Portfolio: Urban Residential Subdivision (Brownfields)
Auckland City Council (Blockhouse Bay, 13 sites)
- A very difficult site, within an existing established residential area.
- The vacant site had remained undeveloped for 15 years due to issues associated with:
- Earthwork constraints;
- Wastewater, stormwater reticulation and flood management;
- Site access.
- It was necessary to convince the Auckland City Council and Metro Water that the subdivision was viable and able to be implemented.
- We utilised innovative design to control overland flow through the site and direct those flows clear of building sites. A ‘sand filter system’ was incorporated into the right-of-way driveway to provide environmental protection to the existing drainage system.
- We worked with the Council's urban design panel to meet their requirements.
At last, on completion, the sows ear has been transformed into a modern, urban environment.
